3. Orange peel: Orange peel, similar to lemon juice, will help clear your pores with its acidic properties to help keep new acne away while gently bleaching discoloration from the acne scar.

4. Cumin seeds: Ground some cumin seeds, make into a paste with some vinegar and apply to your acne scar.

5. Nutmeg: Nutmeg is usually recommended to be applied with regular milk and honey. Similar to garlic, nutmeg has anti-inflammatory properties but it only smells a lot better. Make into a paste and apply. Rinse after 30 minutes.

Sulfur for Acne Treatment

sulfur for acne treatmentThere are various ways to treat acne. Most of the products on the market use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid for acne treatment. However, there is something else to treat acne breakouts. It is sulfur. Sulfur is a very effective acne treatment agent and it is 100% natural.

Sulfur has been used for centuries for skin care and beauty, not necessarily for acne. However, the affects of sulfur on the skin makes it a perfect acne treatment agent. Sulfur has two main affects on skin. One of these affects is exfoliating the dead skin, thus avoiding clogs in the pores. The other affect of sulfur is drying the skin. These affects are very important, because acne is caused by dead skin clogging the pores and getting infected. Sulfur will take care of this by avoiding further clogging and drying the infection.

Other effective acne treatments such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are essentially synthetic chemicals. Sulfur is a product of nature. Benzoyl peroxide works great against acne, but it will over-dry your skin and cause irritation. Sulfur doesn’t over-dry your skin and all you need is a moisturizer to avoid dryness.

Acne treatment products with sulfur has two main forms. One is sulfur spot treatment, and the other is sulfur mask. You can use sulfur mask daily or 3-5 times a week for deep cleansing. Sulfur spot treatment is used for drying single pimples that you occasionally get on your skin. There are also sulfur soaps that is used as a cleansing agent for acne, and it also works great against acne.

by acneScars on July 4, 2012 in Acne Scar Product Reviews, Skin Care

We talked about Mederma Reviews here on howtotreatacnescars.net before. We’ve compiled more reviews on Mederma from only the most reliable sources so you can make up your mind if you want use Mederma or not.

Mederma Reviews

Review 1: I was by my surgeon to use Mederma. Began to apply the gel after incision healed. It definitely helped with smaller scars to heal flatter and smoother in appearance. However my larger incisions took longer to heal and Mederma was not help in smoothing them out. Mederma is a clear gel, easy to use but be careful not to go over recommended amount otherwise it will cause flakes and itchiness. Keep in Mederma requires patience and diligence when using.

Review 2: I have been using Mederma gel consistently for 12 months, twice a day. I can say it has made a big difference on the appearance of my acne scars around my chin. It has made them smoother and corrected the skin color around them.

Review 3: I used this product for acne scarring. It worked pretty well on the scars. They definitely started to fade away faster. The tricky thing is I think clogs my pores where I applied Mederma so in return it is causing more pimples to appear. Personally I would not recommended for this reason but if it doesn’t trigger your skin to get more acne I say go for it.

Review 4: Great product but I really think it is a bit expensive. I liked it because it helped clear up some acne scars. I used it right after the acne went away and applied the gel. The scar didn’t stay around for too long. It is best to follow directions and apply many times a day so that you can get the best results.

acne vulgaris treatment Before you start acne scars treatment, you should first treat acne vulgaris. We will give the full clinical treatment of acne vulgaris. Before you start these treatment, you should discuss the treatment option with a dermatologist. Never squeeze acne pimples, as this causes acne scars.

Incidence and pathophysiology:
Acne vulgaris is one of the most common skin disorders, and it affects more than 80% of all adolescents. It is caused by Propionibacterium acnes infection of the sebaceous glands. This causes inflammatory papules, pustules, nodules, cysts and
scarring, mainly on the face, chest, back and arms.

Principles of Acne Vulgaris Treatment:

The topical use of peeling chemicals, such as benzoyl peroxide or retinoic acid (tretinoin) regularly in conjunction with systemic antibiotic therapy works well on most acne vulgaris patients . These peeling chemicals may cause skin irritation.

Another treatment option is Azelaic acid, which is a natural product of Pityrosporum ovale, and works as an antibacterial and anti-keratinizing agent. It is not as irritant as benzoyl peroxide. Your dermatologist may put you on an antibiotic treatment of low-dose doxycycline or erythromycin for several months. Tetracyclines should not be used by children under 13 years old. There is also topical antibiotic therapy option which is not as effective as systemic therapy.

Hormonal Acne Vulgaris Treatment:

Acne is caused by androgens on the sebaceous glands. Hormonal acne vulgaris treatment works well on women with acne vulgaris. Cyproterone acetate is an anti-androgen with central and peripheral activity, and is used in combination with low-dose oestrogen, ethinylestradiol. Hormonal acne vulgaris treatment shouldn’t be used by pregnant women, and treatment must be supervised by a dermatologist.

Retinoid Acne Vulgaris Treatment:

ISOTRETINOIN
Uses:
Isotretinoin is the D-isomer of tretinoin, another vitamin A analogue. It is used orally for severe acne vulgaris cases, and can only be prescribed by a dermatologist. Treatment length is usually around four months, with 80% improvement. Improvement continues after stopping the treatment.
Mechanism of action:
Retinoids inhibit sebum production, and reduces the size of the sebaceous glands by 90% in the first month. These drugs also inhibit keratinization, that reduces comedones.

You should discuss the side effects with your dermatologist before starting the treatment.
